Head of School
Dr. Steven Sherman joined Maranatha as the Head of School in June 2016. Dr. Sherman has spent over three decades in both independent and faith-based secondary schools. He is a man of deep faith and possesses a servant leadership style with a passion for academic excellence and a love for students. Steve seeks to lead students, faculty, and staff in the integration of the Christian faith into all areas of school life. Having grown up in nearby Glendale, he is excited to be “coming home” and feels blessed to lead a college preparatory school that is centered on Jesus Christ and celebrates the whole student by equipping hearts and minds to reflect God’s glory through academics, the arts, athletics, and service. Dr. Sherman received his Bachelor’s in Mathematics from California State University, Northridge, his Master’s in Educational Leadership and Doctorate of Education degrees from Azusa Pacific University. Together, he and his wife, Karen, enjoy five children and one adorable grandson.
Recently appointed to the role of Principal, Mr. Rouse is no stranger to Maranatha High School. In fact, he has devoted most of his career to the school, having faithfully served this community since 1981 and earning him the esteemed title, "Mr. Maranatha". He received a Bachelor of Arts in History from California State University, Los Angeles, followed by a Masters Degree in Education/School Administration from Azusa Pacific University. While at Maranatha, Mr. Rouse has served in numerous capacities, including Vice Principal of Student Affairs, Vice Principal of 9th and 12th Grades, Principal, Academic Dean, Athletic Administrator, Social Science Department Head, Cross Country Coach, Teacher, and Director of Admissions.
