MHS Student Earns Perfect SAT Score!
Junior Michelle Hsu may be Maranatha’s first student-athlete to earn a perfect score of 2400 on the SAT, a standardized test for college admissions in the United States. While SAT statistics for the 2009-10 school year are not yet available, less than 300 out of 1.5 million students nationwide earned a perfect 2400 on the SAT administered in 2008-09. Some may say that only the super intelligent can accomplish this extraordinary feat, or the student who devotes every waking hour to her studies. Michelle Hsu doesn’t fit that mold. Yes, she is very intelligent, but she also finds time to play on Maranatha’s Varsity Girls’ Basketball team (as a starter), is a member of the school’s Art Club, is in the National Honor Society where she tutors students in Math and World History, and is committed to community service.
Michelle say, “I’d encourage high school students to work hard in school, and then the rewards will come. My SAT score is my reward and even though I don’t know where the future will lead me, I do know that if you work hard more opportunities will come your way.” Congratulations, Michelle! Maranatha is quite proud of you.

Prescription and Non-Prescription Medication Reminder
As a school, we want to be highly intentional to communicate policies and procedures that are important to the health of your student and to the health of our student body. One particular policy we want to emphasize is that which deals with the student use of all prescription and non-prescription medication. ALL prescription and non-prescription medication must be given to our staff in the Academic Center Lobby (Mrs. Cece Forrester or Miss Stacie Fewox). A letter signed by a parent/guardian must accompany the medication giving permission to school staff to administer the drug when your student is on campus or on a school sanctioned activity (athletics, field trip, etc.). In addition, all prescriptions must be clearly marked including your student’s name and the dosage. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our Dean of Students, Mr. Matt Northrop, at (626) 817-4090.
