Getting to School

Students arrive at Maranatha each day by a number of different methods. Information below will help you get to school safely.
Getting to School by Car

Pasadena zoning regulations require Maranatha High School to implement a Traffic Control Plan showing the drop off and pick up of students that maximizes the safety and well-being of Maranatha families and constituents, as well as minimizes the disruption of traffic by students, families, and staff in our neighborhood. Please review and familiarize yourself with the drop off and pick up maps and information.
Parking and Parking Permits
- Parking for Parents Arriving During School Day: Parents/guardians who have school-related business during the school day must park in the Visitor Parking Lot adjacent to the Student Center. When dropping off a student, drop him/her off in the Visitor Parking Lot and direct him/her to report to the office in the Student Center. When picking up a student, go directly to the office in the Student Center and request the student to be released to you. To meet with a staff member, or to attend a parent organization meeting or function, sign in at the office in the Student Center where you will be directed to the on-campus site of your meeting/function.
In the event of a school-declared emergency, the administration asks parents/guardians to refrain from coming to school unless instructed to do so. When instructed to come to school, parents/guardians will be directed to the designated student reunification location.
- Parking for School Events: School events include on-site athletic events, co-curricular activities (visual and performing arts, student club activities), Back to School Night, Graduation, etc. Parking for school events will be in the underground parking structure unless otherwise instructed. All parking spaces will be available for these events (Note: Student/faculty parking space assignments are only for the school day.)
- Student Parking Permits: Parking permits may be obtained through an application process. Students and parents must fill out a parking permit application, available at the front desk, by calling (626) 817-4021, or available to download from the "Parking Permit Application" tab at left. Due to a record number of students, Maranatha requires all student applicant drivers to establish student carpools of at least one additional student. Students who are unable to establish a carpool may submit a "hardship consideration" for review and possible issuance of a parking permit. First priority will be given to senior and junior student driver applicants, in that order, who participate in a student driven carpool. Second priority will be given to student driver applicants who submit a hardship consideration (i.e. living distance from the school, special circumstances, etc.). Sophomore student applicant drivers will not be considered for a parking permit at this time. Students must submit a copy of a valid driver's license and proof of insurance at the time application is submitted. Students are not permitted to park off campus or on the surrounding streets. Students who do so will be in violation of our Conditional Use Permit and will be subject to suspension.
