Student Service hours

Serving our community and our world is so valued at Maranatha that we make it a requirement to graduate. We are committed to seeing our students live out Christ’s example of service to others. Service hours are meant to stretch the student and give them the opportunity to serve others with an attitude of grace and love.

MHS students are required to complete 10 hours of community/volunteer service during their freshmen and sophomore years and 20 hours during their junior and senior years for a total requirement of 60 hours to graduate.

Service hours are administered through the Theology Department in conjunction with the Guidance Department. Student service time must be: outside of MHS or the student’s family, done without payment, pre-approved by Theology teacher, and service to those in a different age group than the student. Each spring the student will turn in a Service Log, a student Service Project Evaluation (done by “supervisor” of volunteer hours), and a service project report.

Opportunities are available on a regular basis. We pray students will grow to consider service as an honor and privilege and as a regular part of their lives.

For more questions, please contact your Theology teacher.
