Weekly Chapels
The Student Ministries Team prayerfully develops a theme for each year's chapels. The Student Ministries Team is then charged with planning weekly chapels for the entire student body including worship, a speaker, and student testimonies.
Mentoring Groups
Once a month students meet in small groups for mutual encouragement, prayer, and accountability. The groups are led by an adult faculty/staff mentor who helps the students understand their spiritual journey and how to navigate life decisions and experiences. The goal is that we will all follow Christ with greater depth, perseverance, and joy.
Bible Studies
There are two Bible Studies at Maranatha High School, one for the guys and one for the ladies. Both of the Bible Studies meet once a week. For more information, contact the Director of Student Ministries.
Nights of Worship
Several times during the year, the Student Ministries Team hosts "Nights of Worship" to bring our whole Maranatha community together in prayer and worship. Many of our Nights of Worship are held in the evenings on either Friday or Saturday.
Spiritual Emphasis Week
Early in the year, the Student Ministries Team organizes "Spiritual Emphasis Week". This week consists of daily chapels with our student worship band and a keynote speaker.
Spiritual Life Retreat
Each year, Maranatha embarks on a Spiritual Life Retreat (SLR) in January. Past retreats have been amazing as literally hundreds of students have renewed their commitment to fully follow the Lord in everything they do. During the retreat, students hear from a keynote speaker, worship, pray, meet in small groups, hang-out at the snack shop, and enjoy many free time activities.
Missions/Outreach
There are several opportunities for students to serve our community and our world.
Operation Christmas Child (Samaritan’s Purse)
In November, students bring shoe boxes full of Christmas presents for underprivileged children.
Canned Food Drive (Salvation Army)
In December, the Maranatha community collects canned goods, imperishable food items, NEW socks, and blankets to be donated to the Salvation Army of Pasadena. Students bring items to their first period classes to be placed in the provided boxes.
30 Hour Famine
MHS students participate in a 30 Hour Famine (through World Vision) to help bring awareness and money for starving children throughout the world. Besides raising money and participating in the 30 hour fast, students will also participate in a community service activity.
Mexico Mission
During the week of Spring Break, students sleep in tents, brave 100 degree heat, and go without showers. Much like Isaiah, they have responded with "Here I am Lord send me." For one week in Mexico, students partake in a life-changing experience that has them becoming the hands and feet of those who bring Good News.
