Summer School 2009

Summer School 2009

Registration
Summer classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. The size of each class is limited in order to provide a quality experience for each student. Registration forms will be available in February and will include a non-refundable deposit. The balance of summer program tuition is due in full prior to start of class and is non-refundable after that date.

Dates and Times of Classes
Summer School will begin on Monday, June 15, and will be six weeks in length, concluding on Friday, July 24.

High School Credits
Courses that are offered for one semester unit will earn 5 semester credits. Courses that are offered for two semester units will earn 10 credits. Completed units will be applied towards MHS graduation credits or may be transferred to other schools.

Make Up Credits
Students with remedial needs should call the Guidance Office at (626) 817-4031 to set up an appointment.

Class Size and Attendance
A minimum of ten students is needed to conduct each class, and we reserve the right to cancel courses if there are not a minimum number of students. There is limited seating in each of our laboratory science courses, which fill quickly. Each day of class covers a week of material in normal school format. Regular attendance is imperative. Students will be dropped without credit if absences exceed three days. Students with unique schedules that interfere with standard attendance must resolve the conflict with the teacher or a counselor prior to registration.

Dress Code
Clothes worn are to reflect an attitude of agreement with Maranatha’s values of modesty and appropriateness. Clothes should be neat, clean and in good repair. Clothing with emblems that exalt groups or movements contrary to Biblical standards is not acceptable.

Women – No low cut necklines (front or back); open-mesh or sheer fabric; the midriff and stomach must be covered at all times; shorts must be of an appropriate length which is no shorter than the fingertips at arms length when standing). Skirts are not permitted in Summer School.

Men – No oversized shorts or pants; headwear such as hats, caps, beanies, and bandanas are not to be worn; all facial hair is to be shaved; sideburns are to be no longer than the bottom of the earlobe; hair length must be above the collar of the shirt, above the eyebrows and above the bottom of the earlobe; no body piercing of any type is acceptable.

Summer School Faculty and Staff are authorized to enforce the Dress Code.

Add/Drop/Withdrawals
Students wishing to register after the registration deadline may do so if space is available but a $20 late registration fee will be assessed. Once officially registered, a student’s name remains on the class list to receive a grade at the end of the semester. A student who exceeds the absence or tardy limits or stops attending a class without officially withdrawing will receive an “F” for the course.
